Introduction to the Department of Japanese

    The Department of Japanese of the School of Foreign Studies of SCAU started to enroll undergraduate students of Japanese major in September 2014. At present, there are 4 classes with about 120 students who were admitted in 2014 and 2015. The department intends to enroll 60 students every year. There are 11 full-time teachers, including 2 associate professors, 7 lecturers and 2 foreign teachers. Most of them have overseas education in Japan or work experience and 4 teachers hold a PhD degree. The department has a reasonable distribution of faculty members who vary in education, titles and ages. They have engaged in Japanese teaching and research for many years and are familiar with Japanese society and culture with a solid foundation of Japanese knowledge and idiomatic expressions. These faculty members are of high comprehensive quality. Owing to their modern and advanced teaching concepts gained from years of teaching experience at universities, they are well-versed in the development and future trend of Japanese major in domestic universities.
