On behalf of our faculty and student majors, we welcome you to the School of Foreign Studies at South China Agricultural University (SCAU).
Led by a top-notch faculty, our School offers programs in disciplines associated with English and Japanese foreign language studies — such as linguistics, literature, interpretation and translation, as well as specialized studies for teaching and business professions — while also helping our students expand beyond basic academic studies to develop practical knowledge and to explore across cultural boundaries. We aim to sustain and promote cultural understanding and participation through spirited discussion, thoughtful intellectual inquiry, extensive reading and rigorous academic, professional and creative writing.
The School of Foreign Studies (SFS) is mainly comprised of the Department of English, the Department of Business English, the Department of College English Teaching and the Department of Japanese, offering undergraduate and graduate programs. Furthermore, the recently established Master of Translation and Interpreting (MTI) Program and Ecolinguistics Doctoral Program offer extended opportunities for students. At our core stands the belief that education motivates, challenges, and enables better futures.
We believe that transformative education does indeed start in our School. We aim to support and guide our students to reach their full potential, academically and socially. We support student and faculty to develop new knowledge and experiences that we then share through courses, seminars, lectures, and publications. Our faculty is steadily engaged in research and creative scholarly work, receiving widespread recognition. Our students are mentored and consistently achieve academic excellence while remaining intellectually and socially engaged. SCAU students from all disciplines are also invited to take our courses as double-majors. Graduates of our programs not only benefit from strengthening their language proficiency but also broadening their cultural awareness.
Welcome to review the information about the departments, centers, and programs offered by the School of Foreign Studies. This is an exciting and wonderful division of the University, full of special opportunities. There is an impressive tradition and history within our walls, and the future promises more noteworthy accomplishments. We invite you to join us and be a part of it.
